Rick Ross has been arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. The 39-year-old rapper was reportedly arrested on Wednesday (10th June) after a police officer pulled him over in Fayette Country, Georgia and discovered marijuana in his car.

The officer in question reportedly initially pulled Ross, who was driving in a Bentley, over for an alleged window tint violation. The officer immediately smelt marijuana before discovering five joints in the car, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Allen Stevens told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Ross, whose birth name is William Leonard Roberts II, was arrested and taken to Fayette County Jail. He was charged on Wednesday afternoon with a misdemeanour marijuana charge. Ross posted bond and was released on Wednesday night at around 11pm. His mug shot was released by the Sheriff’s Office on Thursday (11th June). 

According to reports, this is Ross’ fourth drug related arrest. His past arrests have also been linked to marijuana use. He was arrested in 2008 in Miami, 2011 in Louisiana and 2013 in North Carolina on drug charges. Ross has also been involved in a number of lawsuits over the past few years including two cases of copyright infringement and one suit pertaining to an alleged assault. 

Ross is best known as the founder of Maybach Music Group. His most successful singles include the 2008 hit ‘Hustlin’’. Ross was born in Mississippi and raised near Miami. He had resided near Atlanta for a number of years and bought an impressive mansion in Fayette County last year.
