Rocker Richie Sambora has thanked fans for their well wishes after he pulled out of Bon Jovi's current tour, insisting he will return to the stage "very soon".

The guitarist, who has been a member of Bon Jovi since 1983, was absent when the Livin' on a Prayer hitmakers played in Calgary, Canada on Tuesday night (02Apr13), and a message from the band confirmed Sambora was bowing out of the North American leg of the band's Because We Can trek.

A statement posted on the Bon Jovi website read, "Due to personal issues, Richie Sambora will not be performing on this upcoming leg. All shows will go on as scheduled."

Sambora has now personally reached out to fans on Twitter.com, revealing he needs to be in Los Angeles to attend to the matter - although he has stopped short of revealing the exact nature of the issue.

He writes, "Thank you everyone for your concern. I'm well, but had to stay in LA to take care of a personal matter. Love you all and see you very soon."

It's been a turbulent few years for Sambora - he's endured a stint in rehab, a drink-driving conviction, and a divorce from actress Heather Locklear.
