They were once a television mainstay, but now Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan look as though their time as TV's best and brightest couple is over for good, with Richard telling The Sun newspaper that their time together on television is done for good.

The husband-and-wife team, best known for presenting This Morning from it's beginning in 1988 unil 2001, then moving to Chanel Four for Richard & Judy from 2001 to 2009 before moving to digital television for a short-lived stint, are enjoying their retirement from daytime TV and have apparently made a pact with one another to not to work together again. Richard made the agreement public, ending speculation of a comeback when he told the told the paper, "We literally shook hands. I can't see us hosting a show together again."

Nowadays the former King and Queen of daytime TV have their own jobs to occupy themselves with, with Richard a DJ on BBC Radio 2 and freelance presenter, whilst Judy is more of a stay-at-home wife than following her reluctant career in front of the camera. Still, anyone wanting to see Richard on TV may not have to wait too long as the presenter did admit that he has one or two ambitions to fulfil before he retires from television altogether, namely Strictly Come Dancing. Having been approached in the past, Madeley has never had the opportunity to commit due to conflicting schedules however he is adamant that one day in the future he will be able to commit to the show. He told the paper: "I would take it very seriously because I'm competitive but I'd have to be free from October to Christmas and so far, the last five or six years they've asked me, I haven't been."

Frankly, we can't wait to see him strut his stuff on the dance floor.
