Le Donk & Scor-Zay-Zee Review

Excellent
This hilarious mock-doc has the same tone as Spinal Tap, with a free-flowing stream of throwaway gags. It also captures a terrific comical performance from Considine that finds actual depth beneath the silliness.

Shane Meadows is making a documentary about his friend Nicholas (Considine), who has renamed himself Le Donk as he tries to get his life back in control.

His main goal is to help his friend, the young rapper Scor-zay-see (Palinczuk), become a star, and he thinks he's found the venue in a massive stadium concert in Manchester opening for the Arctic Monkeys. Meanwhile, his ex-girlfriend (Coleman) is expecting their child, but her new boyfriend (Graham) seems to be taking over as the prospective dad.

Vera Drake Review

Very Good
Known for developing scripts out of improvisational exercises, Mike Leigh's gift for getting incredible performances out of actors is impressive. His character-driven pieces are consistently provocative and engaging, though they may also leave you feeling depressed at their insistence on sticking with the reality of how circumstances play out versus tying together a neat, entertaining ending.

Vera Drake is no exception to this practice. Set in working-class London in the 1950s, it explores the path of a middle-aged woman who performs illegal abortions to young women in need. Vera (Imelda Staunton) is one of those truly kind-hearted souls who constantly helps out anyone and everyone around her. It's hard to imagine that someone that positive and giving may exist, but her charm and energetic encouragement easily win you over as genuine. She, her husband Stan (Phil Davis), and their two adult children share a cramped but warm apartment together.

Bravo Two Zero Review

Weak
They were an elite unit of the SAS, eight Brits sent behind enemy lines in Iraq to knock out Saddam Hussein's Scud missiles -- facing incredible odds, wearing 210-pound packs, out of touch with HQ, facing bad weather, going uphill both ways.

And I just can't bring myself to care.
