Hollywood star Richard Gere has urged the British public to vote out Prime Minister Tony Blair at the next UK general election.

The Pretty Woman actor is baffled by Blair's alliance with US President George Bush and is urging voters to vote against him if they are unimpressed with his performance in office - particularly in light of the Iraq war which he calls "a bizarre bad dream".

Gere, 55, says, "If you don't like what your leaders are doing, do something about it. It's that simple.

"He had a real Clintonesque connection with people on the street, but he seems to be caught up in this insanity."

A date has yet to be set for the British election, although it is thought likely to take place later this year (05).
