One Direction will perform at Richard Branson's New Year's Eve party.

The boy band have been booked to entertain guests at the business magnate's Necker Island home in the Caribbean, where Richard will also be celebrating the launch of his space mission.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''One Direction have been asked to be the main attraction and perform at the party.

''Officially the bash is being thrown to celebrate the start of space flights with Virgin Galactic which are due to be launching by the end of 2014, but it will not be a 'worky' event. Sir Richard wants everyone to let their hair down and have a good time. He has invited guests to stay for a decadent party.''

This won't be the first time 1D heartthrob Harry Styles has been on the island since in January the 19-year-old headed to Necker after he split from then-girlfriend Taylor Swift.

Aside from the band - which also includes Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne - the extravagant bash is expected to host people who have signed up for $250,000 space flights, namely Ashton Kutcher, Brad Pitt, Justin Bieber, Kate Winslet and Russell Brand.
