Renee Zellweger is vowing the Bridget Jones' DIARY sequel will be every bit as good as the much-loved original.

Filming has yet to begin on BRIDGET JONES: THE EDGE OF REASON, but the OSCAR-nominated actress has agreed to pile the pounds back on for the role - something she would have refused to do if the script wasn't good enough.

Dedicated Renee swears, "No one wants to do the sequel unless the screenplay is as good as the first one. We don't want to do a sequel just because the first one made a lot of money. We owe it to the fans of the characters to make a good, if not better, film the second time around.

"When I first said I didn't want to play Bridget again it was just after I had worked hard to lose the weight and suffered a lot of bad press because of how I looked. But now I see what a special character she was to play."
