Regina King has one regret about making the Ray Charles biopic - the soul great died before she had a chance to ask for his verdict on the movie.

The actress - who plays Charles' sidekick MARGIE HENDRICKS in RAY - had fantasised about meeting the GEORGIA ON MY MIND legend before shooting started on the celebrated film.

And she admits the high-profile premiere failed to meet her expectations because Charles - who died last June (04) - wasn't there.

She tells British magazine NOIR, "No, unfortunately I didn't get a chance to. I had this dream that I was gonna meet him on the red carpet and ask, 'Mr Charles, did you enjoy the film?'

"But I didn't get a chance to do that, but I know that he gave his blessing on this film. The seal of approval is there."
