Razorlight frontman JOHNNY BORRELL was shocked when the UK band was forced to cancel a Russian gig due to extortion last year (06), because he half expected things to turn violent.
The AMERICA group had to abandon their Moscow concert in November at the last minute after receiving threatening phone calls.
Borrell says, "It was pure, unregulated capitalism. The law of the gun, mobs and bags of money.
"Just hours before we were due on stage these guys demanded money for 'special permits'.
"There's a promoter out there locked in the trunk of a car somewhere. People were calling my hotel room. It was very dark."
