Actor Randy Quaid Is Facing Deportation Back To The U.s. After He Was Released From A Detention Centre In Canada.
The Brokeback Mountain star was arrested by Canadian immigration officials on Tuesday (06Oct15) as part of his residency case which has been ongoing since he fled his native U.S. in 2010.
Randy's wife Evi was granted citizenship as her father is Canadian, but the actor's status has been in limbo since he was denied permanent residency by officials in 2012.
He was granted his freedom after appearing before the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board in Montreal on Tuesday, and during the hearing it emerged Randy was arrested because officials fear he may not comply with a deportation order.
The actor is due to be sent back to the U.S. next week (beg12Oct15) to face charges for allegedly squatting at a house in Santa Barbara, California.
Speaking before his release, Randy told the Associated Press he is willing to return to his homeland to face the consequences.
"They won't allow me to remain (in Canada)..." he explained, "I probably will get arrested for all that (in California). I'm perfectly willing to face all that stuff... I would like to have the issues in Santa Barbara resolved so I can move on with my life."
