Embattled Actor Randy Quaid Is Back Behind Bars In Canada After Another Run-in With Immigration Officials.
The Brokeback Mountain star has been living in Canada since fleeing to the country in 2010, after he and his wife Evi were arrested for illegally squatting at a home in Santa Barbara, California.
The Quaids applied for refugee status, claiming they were being persecuted by "Hollywood star whackers", and Evi, whose father is Canadian, was later granted citizenship.
Randy was denied permanent residency and subsequently skipped an interview to discuss his status with officials at the Immigration and Refugee Board in 2013. He ended up in hiding and was finally arrested in May (15), when a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) agent recognised the 65 year old in downtown Montreal.
He was released on $10,000 (£6,250) bail, under the condition he alerts Canadian immigration officials to his whereabouts at all times.
However, he found himself back in custody on Tuesday (06Oct15) - and his wife Evi claims officials have not clarified the reason for his detention. She alleges her husband attended a regular check-in with CBSA bosses in Montreal, only to end up in a jail cell, reports CBC News.
A detention review hearing has been set for Thursday (08Oct15).
