Randy Jackson is to return to 'American Idol'.
The music producer - who has been on the panel of the show since it began - appears to have agreed a deal with Fox to remain on the talent show as a judge after talks wit Enrique Iglesias broke down, Deadline reports.
It was previously thought that Randy might take on the role of a behind the scenes mentor on the programme, and Simon Cowell has confirmed he will return to 'American Idol' in some capacity.
The music mogul tweeted: ''Just heard Randy is back on Idol. Right decision.''
Randy will reprise his role on the panel alongside Mariah Carey, while Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban have both been linked to judging positions.
But Mariah is said to be keen for her ''dear friend'' Lenny Kravitz to become a panellist.
A source recently explained: ''Mariah would love to have her dear friend Lenny Kravitz sit next to her on the 'American Idol' judge panel. She thinks he would be the perfect choice because he is extremely talented and knows music inside and out.''
