Rachel McAdams latest tear-jerking romantic drama The Vow was premiered last night (February 7, 2012) at a Los Angeles movie theatre. The Notebook actress was sporting her new blonde hairstyle for the occasion and wearing a pale blue Vivienne Westwood dress. The Vow, which co-stars Channing Tatum and Sam Neill, tells the story of a married couple who are faced with the trauma of rebuilding their relationship after Paige loses her memory in a car crash.
Associated Press have released a video of Tatum complimenting his co-star by telling reporters that MCAdams "just exudes that lovely little light that I think every guy wants to be with and every girl wants to be so I think probably that's why she's really, really awesome in these movies." She repaid the compliment by saying Tatum is one of the nicest people she's ever met. The characters of Paige and Leo are based on a real life couple, Krickitt and Kim Carpenter, who were also in attendance at the premiere.
The critical response to the movie has been mixed, with Hollywood Reporter's Todd MCCarthy saying "earnest hokum of this nature has become increasingly rare. And for a reason." However, Helen O'Hara of Empire Magazine was more forgiving, stating that "The few weaknesses in the plot can be overlooked as The Vow makes for a wonderful - if a bit teary - romance that is brilliantly acted." The film receives its full cinema release on Friday February 10, 2012.
