Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen ended their engagement due to the strain of living apart, it has been claimed.
The 28-year-old actress - who has called off her engagement to her 'Jumper' co-star - is currently based in Los Angeles, while the actor is living in Canada, making it difficult for them to maintain their three-and-a-half year romance.
One pal said: "It just wasn't working out. Rachel is focusing on her career, spending time with her family and just moving forward."
Rachel and Hayden started dating in January 2007 and got engaged in December 2008.
In June, the couple announced they were 'taking a break' as they wanted to reassess their feelings for one another.
A source said at the time: "They are taking about a month off and will then revisit their relationship to decide if they should stay together."
Rachel had previously admitted she was more ready to have a baby than get married.
She said recently: "I don't need to get married right now. I am more ready for a baby than marriage. Not really tomorrow, but definitely in the next couple of years which is the pretty near future. You have to have the guy, you know?"
When asked if she had found the future father of her children, Rachel replied: "I am happy where I am."
