* IMMIGRATION FILM TAKES HOME TOP SUNDANCE PRIZE Controversial immigration movie FROZEN RIVER has won the top prize at the Sundance Film Festival. The movie, which was written and directed by first-time filmmaker Courtney Hunt and is about smuggling immigrants into the U.S., took home the Utah event's grand jury award for Best Dramatic Film on Saturday (26Jan08). Jury member Quentin Tarantino described Frozen River as one of the most exciting thrillers I am going to see this year. Elsewhere, the Hurricane Katrina-themed Trouble The Water won the grand jury prize for Best U.S. Documentary, while the audience award for Best Drama went to Jonathan Levine's The Wackness. The audience prize for Best U.S. Documentary was awarded to environmental movie Fields Of Fuel, and Best Director was picked up by Lance Hammer for Ballast.
