Maverick filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is being head-hunted to direct a stage production of VERDI opera RIGOLETTO - because it is full of "bloodshed".

The Kill Bill: VOL 2 director has been approached by London's exclusive HOLLAND PARK OPERA to direct the 1851 Italian story of revenge.

Bosses at the open air venue hope Tarantino will be able to take charge in time for performances next summer (05).

A source says, "Quentin loves opera and with Rigoletto there is some bloodshed. The dad murders the daughter."

Should busy Tarantino accept the challenge, he'll have to squeeze the opera in between work on his mooted animated prequel to Kill Bill.
