Maverick filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has been blasted by DARKNESS frontman JUSTIN HAWKINS - for not letting the band perform on a TV show he guest directed last week (20APR04).

The Kill Bill auteur decided he didn't want the British rockers to perform two songs when he took the reigns of America's JIMMY KIMMEL SHOW.

And the director wanted to end the show with a fight scene involving the band and refused to talk to them when they complained, reports British music weekly NME.

Timberlake says, "We were supposed to do two songs, GROWING ON ME and I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLED LOVE.

"So we said, 'Bring him to us and tell us why,' and he sent somebody else to talk to us, which we found insulting.

"He took away our airtime and then didn't bother to come and explain why in person.

"I thought about going in there and slapping him about a little bit."
