Quentin Tarantino is lining up Will Smith to play a slave in his upcoming spaghetti western movie Django Unchained.
The filmmaker has hand-picked the Men in Black star to portray the title character, a freed slave looking for his wife, in the follow-up to his 2009 war movie Inglourious Basterds.
The project will reteam Tarantino with Christoph Waltz, who won an Oscar in 2009 for playing a Nazi officer in Inglourious Basterds.
The Austrian actor is slated to play a German bounty hunter who wants to take down an evil plantation owner, while Pulp Fiction star Samuel L. Jackson is also rumoured to be joining the cast.
Filming is due to begin later this year (11), according to the Hollywood Reporter.
