Queen guitarist Brian May has been awarded a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) award in British royal Queen Elizabeth II's Birthday Honours list.

The WE WILL ROCK YOU musician, joins other music stars including LED ZEPPELIN's Jimmy Page and Live Aid co-founder Midge Ure, in the annual honorary event which was held yesterday (11JUN05) at London's Buckingham Palace.

May, who performed a solo of GOD SAVE THE QUEEN from the roof of Buckingham Palace to celebrate The Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2002, jokes, "I wonder if they will give me special dispensation to receive it on the roof."

Guitarist Page has been awarded an OBE (Officer of the British Empire) for his philanthropic work through his wife JIMENA's charity ACTION FOR BRAZIL'S CHILDREN.

Ure, also an OBE recipient for services to charity and music, says, "It says that it's for music and charity work, which is great, it's not only for Live Aid.

"That's important to me, as none of this would have happened without the music."
