Queen Latifah handed out $150,000 (GBP83,000) to a women's charity after being moved by its work rescuing girls from prostitution in south-east Asia. The actress/rapper heard about the work of Cambodian activist SOMALY MAM and her organisation Acting For Women In Distressing Situations at Glamour magazine's Women Of The Year Awards on Monday (30OCT06) and reached for her cheque book. According to the New York Daily News, Barbara Walters immediately matched the pledge. Mam has helped rescue 3,000 girls from brothels in south-east Asia.
