Working on his first hit single helped rapper Professor Green deal with his anger at being stabbed in an unprovoked attack last year.
Professor Green's first hit single was special because it helped him come to terms with being stabbed.
The British rapper channelled his anger from the unprovoked attack in May 2009 into penning his song 'I Need You Tonight' which helped him overcome his feelings from the horrific incident.
He said: "Last May I got stabbed in the neck. It was some a***hole in a club, and it was completely unprovoked. It was serious - I had three-and-a-half hours' surgery to put it right. It was close to my carotid artery. I would have died if that had been nipped.
"I threw myself into my work. After the stabbing I felt angry for quite a while. But I used the negative energy. It's nice to be on an up."
The 26-year-old newcomer - whose father killed himself two years ago - also praised pregnant pop star Lily Allen for helping him get though the tough times.
He explained: "Lily Allen had an awful lot to do with it. We did a song together and she took me on a tour of Europe and Australia. I can't tell you how much love I've got for her."
