The pop star will make his comedy debut in a cameo on Fox's 'New Girl.'
Music legend Prince is to make his comedy cameo debut in an episode of Fox's hit New Girl, which is set to air after the Super Bowl. The icon will apparently make an appearance as himself hosting a house party which Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Cece (Hannah Simone) are invited to attend but which the rest of the gang end up crashing.
Make Sure You Watch Out For The Super Bowl Episode To Catch Prince In Action!
"The Purple One" is said to be a mojor fan of the show and an even bigger "'shipper" of on screen couple Jess and Nick (Jake Johnson). "[Prince] said, 'I want to be involved in the show in a real way and I want to help Nick and Jess with their relationship'," executive producer Dave Finkel explained, via MTV News.
Executive producer Brett Baer said: "He's right in the middle of trying to help [Nick and Jess] work through some stuff and it's amazing. His thing was all about getting to Jess and trying to bring out this inner part of her that hadn't been brought to the forefront. The word 'hip tips' was sort of the thing. He put it, I think I can give her some hip tips!"
"He contacted us last season because he's a huge fan," Baer added. "He knows everything about the show. He contacted Zooey and Hannah [Simone] directly and asked to do the show. We couldn't work it out last year. But when the Super Bowl thing was floated, it was perfect timing."
Prince Is Set To Grace 'New Girl'!
Actor Jake Johnson told E!Online: "Here's the reality, which is really neat: Prince came on and he's really nice and he told us he was a fan of the show. And his whole group, like he travels with the whole band, they all watch the show. It was really neat because we're all such big fans of him."
New Girl fans worried that the 55 year-old star will take some of the comedy element out of the show needn't be concerned though: apparently the 'Raspberry Beret' singer has a wonderful sense of humor. "He's genuinely funny," Finkel revealed. "He's got a very quiet, wry sense of humor but he kills. There's a moment in the episode where he's sitting in between Zooey and Jake on a bench. And it's a silent beef and he's just looking between them trying to figure them out. And it's hilarious. He has crazy comic instincts."
