Prince Harry Just Slept In A Fridge. Yep, He Did That.
Prince Harry slept in a fridge, but it's not just another one of his stunts.
You may have thought we were going to report on Prince Harry getting home from a night out in an exotic location and bedding down in a fridge to cool off, but fear not, it's not another one of the royal's famous stunts - well, it is sort of.
The 29-year-old is set to race with a team of injured British servicemen and women against the United States and Commonwealth groups in November - though this is no ordinary race. In temperatures of minus 35C with wind speeds of 45mphs, the teams will trek across the South Pole this winter.
Patron of the Walking With The Wounded charity, Harry spent the night in a giant freezer this week to prepare for the gruelling conditions in Antarctica.
When asked what was the worst part of the conditioning session, the royal joked, "going in." He spent around 20 hours in the chamber at Mira in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, where cars and military vehicles are put through their paces to prepare for extreme conditions.
According to the Telegraph, Harry and his four team-mates - all of whom have amputated limbs - practised with the clothing they will wear on the 200 mile expedition. Essentially, the training helps them learn how to avoid frostnip and frostbite in the South Pole climate, which is inhospitable to man. After the training, Harry chatted with his team over tea and biscuits.
The charity race should last around 15 days, with the teams trekking nine miles each day. The Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgard heads the US time, while The Wire star Dominic West races alongside the Commonwealth.
Prince Harry took part in the Walking With The Wounded trek to the North Pole in 2011.
