The 32 year old prince made the surprising remarks in an interview with Newsweek.
It’s one of the highest-profile roles and lifestyles in the entire world, but Prince Harry has made the rather startling revelation that he believes none of the Royal Family actually wants to be the King or Queen.
The 32 year old, who is currently dating American actress Meghan Markle, made the comments in an in-depth interview with the American magazine Newsweek conducted at Kensington Palace, where he talked about the future of the British monarchy. In it, he suggested that nobody involved actually wants to be the monarch, but that the sense of duty is overriding.
“We are involved in modernising the British monarchy. We are not doing this for ourselves but for the greater good of the people,” he said, offering a rare insight into the deepest psychology of the Windsor family.

Meet Prince William and Harry's best friend, Guy Pelly
Princes’ William and Harry are about to jet off to the States for the wedding of their good friend Guy Pelly this weekend. Pelly has been a tabloid name for a while and obviously has friends in high places, but what do we know about the British nightclub manager?
Guy Pelly is marrying Lizzy Wilson on Saturday
Unsurprisingly Pelly has a true blue aristocratic background. His grandmother Monica, was a member of the Tate & Lyle sugar dynasty, while his mother, Lady Carolyn Herbert, was a former girlfriend of Prince Andrew, as well as a close friend of Princess Diana. Pelly has known the two princes for around 20 years, having met through their involvement in the Beautfort Hunt. Despite their long standing friendship, Pelly has often been pegged by the press as a bad ‘influence’ on the Princes, especially Harry. He has often been reported as the one who “introduced Harry to cannabis” and he was also by Harry’s side when he dressed in a Nazi uniform for a costume party.

The former pair are dealing, each in their own way.
The news of Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas’ split only surfaced this week, but it looks like the two are already moving on. Well, he is, anyway. The newly minted bachelor used the opportunity to take a little trip to Miami this week, where he apparently did not waste any time moping. On Thursday, a few paps scoped out the royal at a beach house in Miami’s Soho neighborhood. In a video, shared by The New York Daily News, the prince is seen approaching a table of young women and can be heard saying: “It was nice meeting you.”
Harry seems to be adjusting to the breakup well enough.
Granted, that doesn’t necessarily mean he was flirting, but it is Miami after all. Harry is in the US just days after the breakup was made public (although it may have been longer since it actually happened). He is visiting the States to attend the wedding of of his good friend Guy Pelly.
Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas has split after two years of dating. What caused their sudden breakup?
We’re only just beginning to mourn the split of Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas. We'd grown sort of accustomed to the pair over the past few months, particularly since they'd started being seen so regularly together. It looked like the 30 year old Prince was preparing to settle down with the 25 year old marketing assistant, but reports this week that the pair have called it quits suggests otherwise.
Harry and Cressida has been dating for two years prior to their split
But what went wrong for Harry and Cressida? Just a few weeks ago the couple, who had been together since 2012, were pictured looking calm and happy watching the England v. Wales rugby match at Twickenham. Cressida, known by her friends as Cressie, had also recently attended her first official engagement with her royal beau, so how did things manage to go downhill so quickly?

It's safe to say nobody was expecting that kind of announcement.
It’s over between Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas. The pair have ended their relationship, ostensibly because she struggled to deal with the attention of being the girlfriend of the Prince. According to The Telegraph’s unnamed sources, the recent talk of an engagement only added tension to the relationship and in the end, caused the breakup. When Harry and Miss Bonas appeared at an official engagement for the first time together last month, it was taken as a sign that they were increasingly comfortable being seen as a couple.
Miss Bonas reportedly wants to focus on her acting career.
Last month, when the couple attended their first public event together – a We Day charity event at Wembley Arena attended by over 12, 000 people – it was taken as a sign that the two were finally confident enough in their relationship and that an engagement was on the cards. Not so, it turns out.

Rumours abound that Prince Harry's girlfriend snubbed the Duchess' invite, but was she invited at all?
Baby Prince George of Cambridge was christened today in an exclusive and intimate ceremony with just 22 guests, including his close royal family, his parents' friends, and his seven godparents who were named soon after the ceremony. However, a notable absence from the baptism's array of guests was Cressida Bonas who is Prince Harry's girlfriend of approximately 18 months.
Cressida Bonas Was Not At Prince George's Christening.
The pair have had an on/off relationship punctuated by Harry's service with the army in Afghanistan but seem to be on solid foundations with swirling rumours that there may be a marriage proposal on the horizon. Though reportedly daunted by the idea of royalty and the associated media attention, 24 year-old Bonas is said to be coming round to the idea of a future with the Prince, perhaps pushed by Harry's newfound keenness for commitment after years of wild partying.

Harry began his US trip with a Manhattan event, the guestlist of which was bursting with socialites.
Prince Harry took Manhattan by storm last night, when he attended a dinner hosted by American Friends of The Royal Foundation. Also in attendance were music producer and Black Eyed Peas headliner Will.i.am., as well as Sean Lennon and Bright Lights Big City author John McInerney and his socialite and philanthropist wife Anne Hearst-Mcinerney, sister of Patti, and the daughter of publishing tycoon Randolph J Hearst.
Yes, it was an evening, practically packed with socialites, but Harry caught the eye of one, renowned for her beauty – Miss USA herself, Nana Meriweather. On the night of her attendance of the glitzy fundraiser at the Four Seasons, Miss Meriweather joked about the British royal whisking her away. Or was she joking? “Wouldn’t that make a great story? We should totally get married,” the beauty queen chuckled. “And he’s tall, I hear, so maybe we’ll get married.” All jokes aside though, the two royal and the beauty queen probably would make a good couple, or at least a height-appropriate one, with Meriweather towering at the impressive height of 6ft1in, just an inch shorter than Harry. Unfortunately for her, if celebrity couples are anything to go by, it definitely takes more than an appropriate height difference to make things work. But hey, it really would make a cute story, if a really improbable one.

Earlier Christie had presented the prince with another clothing freebie; a fleece meant as a token of New Jersey's gratitude. The pair even headed to Seaside Heights, where MTV's Jersey Shore is filmed, and took in a few fair ground games for good measure.

The royals do love their pop culture. Today (April 26) Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton took a tour of the brand new London location of Warner Bros Studios along with some 500 children, Us Magazine reports. The royal family got to practice their magic skills and see a lot of the sets for the Harry Potter films up close. While Kate and Wills got trained on the right wand moves (though of course we all know real magic isn’t about foolish wand waving and silly incantations), Harry missed out. He joined his relatives back on the cobbled streets of the Diagon Alley set. Naturally, when it came time to explode some cauldrons, the younger brother failed to pass the exam. Then again, maybe it was just his muggle showing.
The three then had a look around the Batman exhibit, and, of course, were most impressed by the props. William fell so in love with the Batmobile, according to Us Magazine, that he offered to take over the role of the cape crusader (just doing his duty of course): "Christian Bale's getting old and tired," the prince joked. "I will stand in if I have to."

Prince William was particularly enthusiastic about the Batman vehicles on studio visit
Prince William “could not resist the chance” to take a seat on Batman’s bike in a recent visit to the Warner Bros studios near Watford, The Telegraph reports today (April 26, 2013). Accompanied by his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, the royal couple were inaugurating the studio and getting a privileged behind the scenes tour of how movies such as the Batman trilogy have been made in the UK.
The £100 million studio reportedly accounts for one third of all movies made in the UK. Star Wars Episode One, The Phantom Menace and the James Bond movie Goldeneye are all amongst the studio’s success list. After a presentation on the history of Warner Bros in the UK, William and Kate – along with William’s younger brother Prince Harry - met some of the company’s staff in the huge studios, as well being presented with an array of mannequins adorned with some of the Batman movies’ iconic costumes, including Christian Bale’s Dar Knight costume, Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman costume and Tom Hardy’s Bane outfit. There were several props also on display and William took a seat on the Bat-bike. Looking at the legendary Batmobile, William joked to Harry “We'll have to borrow that for the weekend.” He even sat inside and revved its 5.7 litre engine loudly, clearly taken with the exclusive vehicle.
After leaving the studios, they were scheduled to visit the Making of Harry Potter tourist attraction, where author JK Rowling was expected to be amongst the 500 guests.
The second heir to the throne will risk his life in arctic conditions
Never one to shy away from a challenge, Prince Harry might be facing his biggest one yet (until he has to babysit Kate & Will’s royal sprog). The younger Prince brother will be racing to the south pole in aid of charity.
“As a member of the British team, I will have a brew (tea) on ready for you when you join us at the Pole," he said in a speech, referring to participants from other countries. "Ladies and gentlemen, these men and women have given their all in the cause of freedom, in our cause. That they should once again step into the breach - this time facing down the extreme physical and mental challenges of trekking to the South Pole - just underlines their remarkable qualities." He added:"So, what are these qualities? Courage, to be sure. Physical strength, endurance, a sense of comradeship, absolutely. The Walking With The Wounded charity funds re-training and re-education of wounded servicemen and women to help them find employment after leaving the services. "But there's something else,” adds the Prince, “something deeper than that. Something that continues to draw me back to this charity and these people time and again - and always will. "It's toughness of mind. An unquenchable spirit that simply refuses to say, 'I am beaten'. In a way it's something that can't be defined. You've either got it or you haven't."

The Prince will be embarking on a challenging adventure to the South Pole
In a bid to prove that he’s more than just a bumbling, naked pool-playing, Nazi-costume wearing walking faux pas, Prince Harry will be embarking on a month-long trek to the South Pole as part of the Walking With the Wounded challenge. The physically-daunting challenge will involve the Prince trekking in a group with four British amputees, who will be racing against teams from the US, Canada and Australia. At the launch event, he joked “As a member of the British team I will have a brew ready for you when you join us at the South Pole.”
The 28 year-old will set off in November and will trek across 208 miles of polar terrain, pulling a sled weighing 70kg, The Telegraph reports. Temperatures are expected to plummet to -45 degrees. The Prince paid tribute to the wounded people with whom he will be trekking, particularly their “courage, physical strength, endurance and sense of comradeship.” He added “There is something else, something deeper than that, which continues to draw me back to this charity. It is a toughness of mind, an unquenchable spirit that refuses to say ‘I am beaten’.”
He will be joined by Duncan Slater, 34, a former RAF sergeant from Diss in Norfolk, who has had both legs amputated below the knee, when an IED exploded when he was on duty in Afghanistan. He said “When I was blown up I was told by my doctor that I would never walk or run without pain again. I was determined to prove otherwise. I want to show others that amputees can do anything…to have the opportunity to help a charity that is willing to do so much is beyond words.
Prince Harry has returned home from a four month deployment in Afghanistan and could not be happier to be back. Speaking on his return he said that he was looking forward to some family time, but made sure to let us know that it's family only and that "[we're] not invited."
The young prince has been in the bad books of the nation this week after having spoken about killing the Taliban while on duty, in a fairly blasé manner, quite unbecoming of a prince. Now that he's back though, and seen the negative press, he's toned himself down.
He was happy to say that there had been a marked improvement in Afghanistan during 2012 in contrast to his previous tour in 2006/7. "[T]he way things are going is fantastic, the difference between 2006 and now is absolutely fantastic." Adding a distinctly macabre note about the expectations of the army and of its soliders: "You get asked to do things that you would expect to do wearing this uniform and that's as simple as that really."
It's strange that 'Prince Harry Kills Insurgents' gets less media coverage than 'Prince Harry's Naked Las Vegas Romp', or 'Prince Harry is Happy that his Brother is Having a Baby', but it does.
Here, however, is a rare interview from Harry with CNN, in which he describes life in the army and divulges some harsh truths. He says that it's necessary to "take a life to save a life. That's what we revolve around" in the chat, as well as describing the way in which the army has changed."It used to be very much: front seat, you're firing the whole time," he explained. "Now, yes we fire when we have to but essentially we're more of a deterrent than anything else. Our job out here is to make sure the guys are safe on the ground and if that means shooting someone who is shooting at them, then we will do it ... It's not the reason I decided to do this job. The reason to do this job was to get back out here, and carry on with a job."
And when asked if he had actually killed any Taliban insurgents, the Prince responded: "Yeah, so lots of people have. The squadron's been out here. Everyone's fired a certain amount."
Prince Harry says he kills Taliban insurgents while serving as co-pilot gunner of an Apache attack helicopter in Afghanistan. The royal has been serving for around for months in southern Helmand - a Taliban heartland - and has for the first time acknowledged that he attacked enemy forces.
In an interview while out on duty in Camp Bastion, Harry explained that he was sometimes justified to "take a life to save a life," adding, "That's what we revolve around, I suppose." The brother of the Duke Of Cambridge explained how the roles of Apaches and CPGs have changed since his previous deployments in 2007 and 2008. "It used to be very much: front seat, you're firing the whole time. Now, yes we fire when we have to but essentially we're more of a deterrent than anything else. Our job out here is to make sure the guys are safe on the ground and if that means shooting someone who is shooting at them, then we will do it," said Prince Harry, third in line to the British throne. The interview gives an insight into the Prince's life around the base, in which he mixes freely with his fellow troops, eats in the canteen and plays video games, calling himself "just one of the guys."
Prince Harry also used the ITV interview to express his frustration about the British media, even the producers whom were conducting the interview. "I never wanted you guys to be out here, but there was an agreement made to invite you out on the deal that the media didn't speculate before my deployment. That's the only reason you guys are out here."

Following the drama that occurred when a pregnant Kate Middleton visited a London hospital with severe morning sickness, we haven't heard a lot about the Royal baby, but now, while serving in the British army, Prince Harry has expressed his delight at the pending blue blooded offspring.
He was quoted by the The Telegraph as being "thrilled" for the couple and "can't wait to be an uncle", adding: "It's about time."
"Obviously I'm thrilled for both of them," he said during an interview in Helmand Province "It's about time," he joked. "I can't wait to be an uncle." And when asked if he had telephoned the Duke and Duchess to congratulate them from Afghanistan, he said: "Of course I have. I had a chat to them. I spoke to my brother and her, and they're both very well and both very happy obviously. I didn't send a letter of congratulation like most of the papers said."

Since the news broke that the royal pair are expecting, rounds of people have been predicting what the future heir to the throne may look like, and it turns out the future third in line for the throne may end up looking like the current third in line, Uncle Harry - that's Prince Harry!
Despite both sporting a much darker head of hair, the odds of having a red-headed child are actually quite high for the royal couple. In fact, scientists found that the chances of any couple in Britain giving birth to a red-head may be higher than expected, as a study of ancestral DNA of more 5,000 people in the UK showed that a whopping 38.3% had the red-haired gene. With a ginger brother, there is a more than likely chance that Wills carries the gene, as for Kate, Alistair Moffat - director of BritainsDNA - told the Daily Mail: “As a result of our study, we can say she has a 38.3 per cent chance of being one."

According to ABC News, the child - whether a girl or boy - will eventually be heir to the British throne, according to new legislation awaiting final approval. The Duchess was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital on Monday (December 3, 2012) with hyperemesis gravidarum, an acute morning sickness that requires supplementary hydration and nutrients. "As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter. Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby," the palace said in a statement today. "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news." The couple have made no secret of their desire to have children, though 'Kate Middleton pregnant' headlines have been cropping up on a weekly basis since the couple married.

A source close to The Mirror, said: "Everyone is absolutely delighted for Missy and Tom, they make the perfect couple. Tom absolutely adores her. They have been together for several years although did have a brief split and got back together last May." The source also added that, "Ever since then several people have been speculating an engagement would be on the cards." It is thought that Harry and Chelsy are the ideal candidates for the roles of best man and bridesmaid respectively. Harry and Van Straubenzee are best buds, with Tom helping out with the best man speech for the Royal wedding. Add to that Harry's heroics when Tom was threatened with a knife outside Battersea Power Station, the all things point to best man. A statement from the Percy family said yesterday: "The Duke and Duchess of Northumberland are delighted to announce the engagement of their younger daughter Melissa Percy to Mr Thomas van Straubenzee. The wedding is planned to take place in the summer of 2013."
The wedding is set to be the royal society event of the year, when it takes place. The whole inner circles of Royals will be toasting their nuptials, including Prince William and Kate, as the whole gang are close friends.

Prince Harry's best friend Thomas Van Straubenzee is engaged to marry Lady Melissa Percy, whose principal residency is Northumberland's Alnwick Castle, aka, Hogwarts. The stunning Grade 1 listed building doubles for the school of witchcraft and wizardry in the blockbuster Harry Potter films.
Lady Percy, 25, is the youngest daughter of the Duke of Northumberland and is "thrilled" about the upcoming nuptials which they hope to hold next year, according to The Telegraph. The engagement will delight Prince Harry, who's been friends with Van Straubenzee since they attended Ludgrove prep school and Eton College together. As yet there's no word on wedding venues, though Straubenzee and Percy are certainly spoilt for choice, with West London's Syon Park her father's home in the capital. Some may remember that in August, Prince Harry gave a police statement after Van Straubenzee was attacked in Battersea, South London, while speaking to the Royal on a mobile phone.
In 2002, Thomas's brother Henry - another friend of Prince Harry - was killed in a car crash aged 18. He had gained an Army scholarship and planned to follow a career in the military after a planned gap-year working in Uganda.

Halloween is prime time to dress up to revere your idols, scare your friends or ridicule those that you may feel deserve it. Occasionally however some people can get offended, which is exactly what happened with Prince Harry dressed up as a Nazi a few years back, and more recently when Sum 41 front man Deryck Whibley and a friend dressed up as his ex-wife Avril Lavigne and her new fiancee Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, reports the NME.
Kroeger retorted to the offence with a tweet via his bands Twitter page, saying: "Hey Deryck loved the costumes! we were going to dress up as you guys this year but all the parties had celebrity themes haha! -CK"

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, arrived in Stockton-on-Tees this week for a string of solo engagements. Around 2,000 well-wishers turned out to welcome Middleton to the north-east, where she met Olympic volunteers, reports BBC News.
Dressed in a burgundy coat, the Duchess braved the blustery weather to meet the likes of William Hardy, 14, who carried the Olympic torch through Newcastle earlier in the summer. William contracted meningitis when just 23 months old, having both of his legs and part of his left arm amputated. Megan Bartle, 20, who arrived early to get a good vantage point, said of the Duchess, "She is such a brilliant role model and a true inspiration. She also carries herself beautifully, but is modest and at ease with the public.I like the way she mixes designer clothes with high street fashion and almost as if she is saying, 'I don't think I'm better than you'". 67-year-old Mercy Scott got the bus from neighbouring Cramlington for Middleton's arrival, saying, "We understand though, why William isn't here and seeing Kate in person is brilliant. She is so beautiful and good natured and will make a good queen."
Prince William was unable to attend the royal engagement following the death of his former nanny Olga Powell. The Prince attended the funeral of Mrs Powell, who cared for he and Prince Harry following their parent's divorce and the death of their mother, Princess Diana.
Even the royals are using twitter as a mode of communication now: “Just announced - The Duke of Cambridge will not join his wife as planned on royal engagements in Tyne and Wear and Stockton-on-Tees (Wed).” the official Clarence House Twitter feed stated. “The Duke of Cambridge will instead attend the funeral of Olga Powell, who was his and Prince Harry’s nanny for much of their childhood.” This means Kate will have to attend separate engagements in Newcastle, Gateshead and Stockton-on-Tees on Wednesday without Prince William; the first time she will have done such a thing without the Duke of Cambridge on her arm. Instead, William and his brother Harry will attend the funeral of Olga Powell, a former nanny of theirs. In an interview with The Mirror before the royal wedding, she said the boys had been “like my grandsons.”
This, perhaps, would not be such a daunting task for Mrs. Middleton, as we’re sure she’s fully capable of handling such an occasion, even without her man by her side, but given that it’s the first public outing since the topless scandal that engulfed her recently, there’s more pressure on here to present an amicable public face for the British Royal Family.
Morrissey combined his two favourite bugbears - the British royal family and meat-eaters - into one long grumble to the Australian press recently, calling Prince Harry an "idiot" in reaction to recent nude images of him coming out from a holiday in Las Vegas, and lambasting Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton for their actions and attitudes towards animals.
Talking to Australia's news.com, Morrissey said "I wasn't surprised by Harry in Vegas because he's always been an absolute idiot." Varying on his topic, the outspoken musicians said "The monarchy is foremost a business, and it's important to them that the British public continue to finance the excessive luxurious lifestyles of the now quite enormous, wasteful and useless 'royal' family. I find it very sad."
Turning his attentions to Will and Kate, Morrissey scorned "William shoots deer, Kate's favorite food is the shockingly cruel fois gras, Harry shoots water buffalo. They are the most dysfunctional, unpleasant and arrogant people on the planet, a sour soap opera, and they should resign and retire." Ramming home his belief that the royal family were nothing other than an embarrassment, the singer raged "Can you imagine how the Prime Minister of Argentina viewed Harry in Vegas? Or the Pope? Or the Archbishop of Canterbury?"
The Royal Family has decided against lodging a complaint with the press watchdog over Prince Harry’s Vegas pictures Photographs of the 27-year-old Prince cavorting naked in a Sin City hotel room were published by The Sun newspaper, causing a nationwide storm.
Despite the newspaper being the only UK publication to run the photographs, Harry’s office in St. James’s Palace said it had decided against pursuing a formal complaint given the Prince’s current deployment in Afghanistan, reports Reuters. It may be that the royals are concentrating their legal efforts on a French photographer who took topless pictures of The Duchess of Cambridge while she was holidaying with Prince William. The couple have launched a criminal complaint against the snapper, who provided French gossip magazine Closer with the photographs.
Harry returned to Afghanistan this month to fly attack helicopters in the NATO-led war against the Taliban. The royals said pursuing the Vegas scandal would “not be appropriate at this time and would prove to be a distraction” to the Prince’s service. The photographs were an embarrassment for the family after a summer celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Gary Barlow’s performance of Sing at the Classic Brits will feature an accompaniment from the group, Military Wives, reports The Metro.
Sing, the single that made Prince Harry the first royal to top the charts, is up for the Classical Brit Awards ‘single of the year award’ after shooting to number one in the singles chart, while the album of the same name took the top spot in the albums chart. The successful choir group Military Wives will perform the song, whilst Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber - the composers of the single for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations - will appear on stage at the awards show playing grand pianos. “The Classic Brits is something I’ve never done before, so I’m very excited to be a part of it,” explained Barlow. “It’ll be nice to get everyone back together for a performance of Sing as we’ve only ever performed it once together live.”
In My Dreams – the first studio album from Military Wives - topped the charts and got them into the top ten of the Classic FM Hall Of Fame. Opera singer Russell Watson will also be performing at the event after having to cancel his appearance at the event last year due to health problems.
