British royal Prince Charles is retiring from playing polo after enjoying 40 years playing the horse-riding sport.
The 57-year-old, who is heir to the British throne, no longer feels able to continue playing at the high standard which once saw him regarded as one of Britain's 10 best players.
The sport also holds romantic memories for the future monarch - he met his second wife CAMILLA, Duchess of Cornwall at a polo match in 1970.
The prince's sons WILLIAM and HARRY are both keen players.
A spokesman says, "The Prince of Wales will not be playing polo next season. He made the decision recently to retire from the game after playing for over 40 years.
"He felt that the time was right. He decided to bow out gracefully, but regretfully."
