A British music festival set to feature rockers Primal Scream and former The Smiths star Johnny Marr has been axed due to poor ticket sales.

Singers Paloma Faith and Laura Mvula were also part of the Isle of Man Festival line-up, set to hit the stage on 6 July (13), but the show's organisers have been forced to pull the plug after failing to attract enough concertgoers.

A spokesman for the event says, "A great Festival was planned for the Isle of Man - with global artists, international and local media partners and world reaching sponsors. Sadly, this cannot now be realised."

Ticketholders have been offered refunds at their point of purchase.

The Isle of Man Festival is the latest British music bash to be scrapped - the family-friendly All Tomorrow's Parties festival was cancelled this year (13), while the inaugural KISSbeach party, due to feature Rita Ora and rappers Dizzee Rascal and Tinie Tempah, was also recently called off.
