In an ever-shifting digital landscape of fluid identities, long distance discoveries and a music community that is more global than ever, ZHU is a unique new voice who has been quick to make name for himself - without even ever having mentioned it.
At the start of February a series of anonymous tracks including an electronic medley of Outkast tracks and two originals, surfaced online and seemingly out of nowhere took tastemakers and casual listeners alike by storm. Through word of mouth and excitement across the blogosphere they accumulated well over a combined a million plays on Soundcloud in just a few weeks, were featured and raved about across a plethora of major dance music publications including MTV, Dancing Astronaut and Billboard and enjoyed spins and accolades from Pete Tong, MistaJamand Danny Howard on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra. Equally impressively, one of the tracks, 'Faded', ascended to become Triple J's #1 most played track of the week, further demonstrating that enthusiasm with this elusive new artist knows no geographical boundaries.
Off the back of this whirlwind introduction, ZHU now announces his first official release with THE NIGHTDAY EP, a bold mission statement and resoundingly impressive body of work, which all the same is primarily distinguished its addictive celebration of hedonistic dancefloor irreverence and nocturnal emotions.
Across six track filled with cascading liquid synths, propulsive beats and slinky vocals hooks, THE NIGHTDAY EP showcases the unbridled creativity and enticing allure at the core of ZHU's craft. Drawing from a range of dance music genres from house to disco to garage to hip-hop and synth-pop, coupled with his distinctly captivating voice, ZHU spins these elements into a potent concoction entirely of his own, perhaps best summed up by his self-penned moniker for the genre
THE NIGHTDAY EP is available for pre-order now ahead of its release April 20th, via Los Angeles label Mind Of A Genius,
