The festival returns for its second year following its sell-out first event in 2013 - taking place across different Warehouse venues, spaces and outdoor areas in London Fields. On August 2nd 2014, London will see the return of a highly exciting and fresh new event in the Capital, taking place around London Fields - VISIONS festival.
Last year saw the launch of Visions - a hugely successful event that featured performances from the likes of !!!(Chk Chk Chk), F*cked Up, Cloud Nothings, Jeffrey Lewis, The Haxan Cloak and many more, to widespread public and critical acclaim. There was a noticeably special and exciting atmosphere across the whole day of the festival. Whilst sold out, the queues for bars were never long, clashes infrequent and there was the type of relaxed and warm-feeling community night out many people felt wasn't possible in London, yet it was full of international talent and people from all over. The festival returns this year with a wonderfully diverse and carefully curated line-up featuring a wealth of alternative music from around the globe.
VISIONS festival is delighted to announce Poli╬a in it's first music line up, Following the release of their critically acclaimed top 40 album 'Shulamith', the breakthrough band top the bill with a special London summer performance. Visions is also delighted to welcome a host of highly innovative and talented US acts, including the party legend that is Andrew Wk for a special exclusive London appearance as part of his "Possessed by Partying tour" - promising 'a no-hold barred setting designed for maximum fun'. Alongside this, the likes of Baths, The Range, Sean Nicholas Savage and Perfect Pussycomplete the trans-Atlantic contingent. The best in the UK underground will be represented again in this year's line-up, with the first acts announced including the fast-rising The Fat White Family, Eagulls, Rainer and more. Elsewhere, Dutch psych-act Jacco Gardner, Scottish Electronica from Young Fathers, and Josef Salvat complete the bill announced so far.
Music will only be one offering as part of the event. The DIY and artistic nature of the event will be showcased by exhibitions from local artists, including a showing from London based collective Skull Paradise, a Tattoo Art show by Liam Sparkes andRecord fair. Visions also houses a special Comic Book Fair by Breakdown Press for this year's event, and there will be a unique array of food stalls, courtesy of the famous Netil Market collective - including Lucky Chip burgers, Breddo's Taco Shack, BAO, popsicles and many more. The festival's local and original approach also features bespoke art direction, with all visual affairs being handled by a much-celebrated duo of artists, Robert Wallace and Emily Macrae.
Curated by a group of young tastemakers and cutting edge promoters in the capital (Rockfeedback Concerts, Sexbeatand Bird On The Wire), the theory and practice is to collaborate rather than compete, focusing on something creative, progressive and new first and foremost, in an intimate and welcoming festival set-up within London. This year they will be joined by returning partners Sailor Jerry, and new partners Fader Magazine and London In Stereo, helping to refine and expand the scope and scale of the event, with an extremely exciting bill of talent on display.
Focusing on accessibility and highly alternative entertainment, the festival looks to be a fairly priced ticket (o25), with a wealth of different acts to see and things to do in some of city's best new venues and spaces - in a part of London brimming over with creativity - smack bang in the middle of the void of London in the mid-summer.
Further special guests and contributors will be announced for Visions in the coming weeks.
