Tony Blackburn Presents Soul Classics Out 7th October 2013

In recognition of Tony Blackburn's long lasting love for soul music and in celebration of his 50th year of radio broadcasting, UMTV is set to release 'Tony Blackburn presents Soul Classics' on Monday 7 October, a stunning three disc, 58 track album of soul hits and timeless masterpieces personally chosen by the legendary broadcaster.

'Tony Blackburn presents Soul Classics' takes the listener on a journey through multi-million selling hits and hidden gems spanning four decades of classic soul tracks from global superstars including Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Chaka Khan, Donna Summer, Barry White, Chic, Michael Jackson, Alicia Keys and Rihanna.

Tony Blackburn's 50 years in radio is a true landmark and well documented: from his early days at Radio Caroline and BBC Radio 1, through to Capital Gold and his current stables: BBC Radio 2 - where every Saturday afternoon he presents 'Pick of the Pops', BBC Radio London's soul and Motown show, the Magic network, BBC Radio Berkshire and the KM Group. Perhaps what is lesser known about Tony is his enduring love and passion for soul music, and it is this anniversary milestone, which has prompted Tony to delve into his extensive record collection. As well as being one of the first radio broadcasters to bring soul music to the masses, he was instrumental in the UK success of artists such as Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross and welcomed this caliber of artist to his Big Soul Night Out events. This brand new collection showcases his biggest musical love, and will give listeners the opportunity to immerse themselves in some of the greatest songs ever composed.

Tony Blackburn says: "This collection contains tracks which are, in my opinion, some of the finest songs (of any genre) to have ever been recorded."
