The 1975 have announced they will release their new single 'Robbers', on May 26th, through Dirty Hit/Polydor.

Recorded in Liverpool's Motor Museum and produced by drummer George Daniel, frontman Matthew Healy and producer Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, Foals), 'Robbers' is a cinematic tale of lust on the run.

"I got really obsessed with the idea behind Patricia Arquette's character in True Romance when I was about eighteen," lead singer Matthew Healy explains. "That craving for the bad boy in that film it's so sexualised. It was something I was obsessed with. 'Robbers' is about a heist that goes wrong - I suppose you can read it as a metaphor - and a girl who's obsessed with her professional killer boyfriend. It's a romantic ideal"

Following a triumphant start to 2014 with three sold-out nights at Brixton Academy, The 1975 have spent the last three months on the road, taking in the UK and Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, mainland Europe and the US. Briefly returning home for a sold-out-in-minutes show at London's iconic Royal Albert Hall, the band now head back to the US to perform at Coachella followed by another extensive US tour.

With appearances already announced at Radio 1 Big Weekend, Isle of Wight, T In The Park, Glastonbury and Reading and Leeds, 'Robbers' is set to be the anthem of the summer festival fields.

A collection of memories, overheard conversations, and snapshots in time, The 1975's eponymous debut album is a love letter to youth, played out in bold and brash Technicolor. Having topped the UK album charts and sold out every UK headline show to date, The 1975 have cemented their status as Britain's biggest new band.
