Tame Impala Preview 'Be Above It' (Erol Alkan Rework) To Be Released 10th December 2013

Tame Impala have spent the last 18 months traversing the globe in support of their critically acclaimed 2012 album, 'Lonerism'. Their final tour leg of 2013 wrapped up last week on the West Coast of the USA, with mind-bending outdoor shows in Los Angeles (Greek Theatre) and Santa Barbara (Santa Barbara Bowl) with the Flaming Lips - following their sold-out headline show at London Hammersmith Apollo and sets at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds festivals earlier in the year.

Before retreating to their golden homeland for a downunder summer, they've got one final 'Lonerism' goodie to share with everyone.

After his epic elongation of 'Why Won't You Make Up Your Mind', one of the deeper cuts on their debut record Innerspeaker, influential London producer, DJ and label head Erol Alkan again pulls Tame Impala apart, this time stretching at the seams and turning the acid up to eleven on 'Be Above It', the opening track of their acclaimed second album 'Lonerism'.

he original 'Be Above It' already dabbles in techno-like repetition, albeit with mostly live loops, and Alkan takes this approach to its logical conclusion, adding those magic numbers 303 and 909 and in turn raising the roof to previously unfathomable jacking heights. It's been a staple in his live sets this past summer, and will finally be available to buy 10th Dec in the UK and Europe.

The Erol Alkan Rework of 'Be Above It' will come as a white-sleeved, one-sided 12" and will be limited to just 1500 copies worldwide. The track will also be available digitally.
