SYKES are set to self-release their new single Anybody Out There on 15th September. Produced by Cam Blackwood (George Ezra, CSS, London Grammar, Florence + The Machine), Anybody Out There follows the release of Gold Dust (July, 2014), a track which was included in Q magazine's 'Five Songs To Hear This Week' column, was God Is In The TV's 'Track of the Day' and received Radio 1 support with plays from Jen Long on BBC Introducing.
Like Gold Dust, SYKES new single Anybody Out There has a glittering ambience, where upbeat guitar music meets electronic alt-pop. The sugary melodies coupled with front woman Julia's gentle vocals make the music of SYKES reminiscent of the music of Lady Hawke, My Timing My Tiger and Saint Etienne.
The release of Anybody Out There - and its predecessor Gold Dust - both proceed SYKES debut EPOut Of Your Hands (also produced by Cam Blackwood and released late 2012). The debut EP resulted in a whirlwind of live shows for SYKES including slots at Glastonbury and Bestival, tour support to The Wombats, Ryan Keen and American Hi Fi and a showcase at Driven Music Conference in Florida, followed by an invite from Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman to play the UK leg of Vans Warped Tour atAlexandra Palace.
