South London producer Mokadem set ears buzzing last year with her haunting remix of Lana Del Rey's 'Gods & Monsters' premiered on The Line Of Best Fit . The remix peaked at number two on the Hypemachine Remixes Chart and top five on its Popular Chart.
The captivating video for 'Pretend Ur Mine' , the first single off Mokadem's upcoming EP, released on 3rd February 2014 on Melodica Recordings was recently premiered on Nylon Magazine. It is directed and edited by Mokadem and photographer Maisie Cousins who was part of the 'Our Generation' shoot in Dazed & Confused - the video already done the rounds on the internet making it into the 'Top 5 Songs of the Week' on The 405 and featured on Pulse Radio.
The EP is a chronological journey written about one relationship.
Meanwhile - Mokadem has found herself in growing demand as remixer- recently bringing her distinctive palette of sound to White Lies' new single 'First Time Caller' - with a new remix of Linden Jay 'Break The Hold' premiering this week and an headlining set at Apartment 58 on February 7th.
The young producer has already been afforded some great support from the likes of Rob Da Bank (BBC Radio 1) and Lauren Laverne (BBC 6 Music) when her track 'You & Her' featured on Melodica Recordings' 'Night Bus' compilationearlier this year. With a steadily growing word-of-mouth surrounding her debut EP and a recent tour on DJ duties for Syron under her belt - Mokadem is one to watch out for.
The film will be the first in the Marvel Cinematic Universe led by a person of colour.
