Michigan-based quintet, Stepdad has released Strange Tonight via Quite Scientific Records, their brand new EP and follow-up to 2012 's Wildlife Pop. Following some major rearrangements with their live line-up, intense tour schedules, and a switch of record labels, Stepdad is thrilled to release this new EP. Earlier this year, Stepdad released the first taste of the band's new sonic developments and production style with the track, "Running (Does That Mean You Care?)." Last month, Stepdad shared their trippy new video for the single "Got The Bite," a dance-jam, gang-chant, summer-like, sing-along and video that's perfectly fit for all of the above.
Stepdad originated with ultramark (aka Mark Tafel) on vocals and Ryan McCarthy on keys and programming and later added Nathan K. on guitars and Ben Weissenborn on drums. Together they've collaborated to create the four tracks comprising Strange Tonight, which seamlessly melds their prior indie-pop sensibilities previously honed by the group, with an impressively slick sound. The band carries with them the lyrical backbone, honesty, and passionate sensibility necessary to not just make great sounding music, but to make music worth listening to - all while still delivering a shake and shimmy worthy of any dance floor. So shuffle your way to Austin this month to see them play at SXSW and order the EP now.
