Scala And Kolacny Brothers Announce Christmas Album 'December' Out 12th November 2012

Following last year's phenomenal rise to international success including high profile UK performances at the Royal Variety Show and BBC Sports Personality of the Year, Scala & Kolacny Bros. announce the release of their new album - an alternative Christmas record entitled 'December' - out on 12th November through [PIAS] Recordings.

After years of shunning requests to perform Christmas songs because the brothers, as Steven Kolacny puts it, "genuinely dislike the over-used Christmas music airing each year on radio and TV", a German radio station persuaded them to record an alternative Christmas song for them.

Not knowing any alternative Christmas songs, Steven and Stijn Kolacny asked Scala's Facebook friends for suggestions. The response was overwhelming and the results were surprising.

"Who would have ever thought that bands like Pearl Jam, Linkin Park and the Smashing Pumpkins had written or recorded Christmas songs?" said Steven.

The idea for an alternative Christmas record was born.

Showcasing stunning versions of songs like JoniMitchell's 'River', Smashing Pumpkins' 'Christmastime' and Sufjan Stevens' 'Christmas! Let's be Glad', 'December' shimmers with ethereal beauty and spine-tingling intensity, displaying exactly why Scala are one of most unique and breathtaking artists around today.

Scala & Kolacny Bros. are performing an exclusive UK show at Shepherds Bush Empire on Wednesday 26th September. For tickets go to: www.ticketweb.co.uk

Scala & Kolacny Bros. first hit the spotlight in the UK with their re-working of Radiohead's 'Creep' used in the trailer for the Hollywood blockbuster 'The Social Network'. Since then their melancholic versions of classic rock and indie songs have featured in numerous trails for ITV's global smash drama, 'Downton Abbey' and on other hits shows such as 'The Simpsons', 'Homeland' and 'Desperate Housewives' - most recently on the trailer for the latest Sam Raimi film 'The Possession'.

2011 also saw Steven (pianist), Stijn (conductor) and the girls headline stages at infamous festivals such as SXSW and Coachella, before performing the credible Sunday noon slot at Latitude to over 20,000 fans. Since then they have extensively toured in Europe, the US and South Korea.
