Russell Kane To Host Nme Awards 2013

The NME Awards 2013 are thrilled to confirm comedy's hottest star, Russell Kane, as this year's host. Having established himself as a multi-talented writer and performer with sell out tours, TV shows - 'Unzipped' and 'Live At The Electric' - and accolades including the prestigious Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Award, Kane is perfectly placed to host rock 'n' rolls most raucous music event of the year.  An exclusive NME ticket pre-sale for the iconic ceremony, which will take place on Wednesday 27th February at its brand new home, The Troxy in East London, begins at 9am on Wednesday 6th February, tickets go on general sale at 9am on Friday 8th February, available on the official website.

Russell Kane said: "When I heard I was hosting these legendary awards I wanted to smash up my guitar in excitement. I don't have one. So I broke into my neighbours house and smashed theirs. Arrested. Worth it. The NME awards are effing great!"

Music fans have cast thousands of votes across 22 categories for this year's awards.  New bands, cult heroes and rock legends lead the nominations with The Rolling Stones up for four awards alongside M.I.A and two never before nominated acts - Tame Impala and Haim. Unsung Heroes of NME Awards past, The Maccabees, receive three nods along with NME Awards favourites Arctic Monkeys and David Bowie.
