Rudimental, The 1975 And Clean Bandit Confirmed To Perform At Free Gig To Support Ncs - Manchester, May 4th 2013

British musicians Rudimental, The 1975 and Clean Bandit are the first names to be confirmed for an exclusive free gig for National Citizen Service (NCS) that will take place at Gorilla in Manchester on Saturday May 4th 2013. With an additional DJ set by Goldierocks, this unique opportunity to see live performances by some of the UK's best and rising live acts has been arranged by NCS, the organisation that provides all 16-17 year-olds in the UK with the opportunity to build skills for work and life. Highlights from the concert will be broadcast on Channel 4 following the event.
It All Starts At Yes - Proving that amazing things happen by saying yes, NCS has created even more opportunities to get involved. Up to 500 teenagers, aged 16 to 17, will be able to join Rudimental, The 1975, Clean Bandit and the popular festival DJ, and host of global radio show The Selector (broadcast to 38 countries worldwide), Goldierocks at the free gig in Manchester on Saturday May 4th. Registration to win each pair of tickets starts today via Not only that, NCS is also offering the chance to go backstage and work at the concert - giving access to opportunities that money can't buy and a chance to help run the show.  A new role will be revealed each week - signing up is one small step to take part in this great NCS experience.
Rudimental from East London, Manchester's The 1975 and the London based Clean Bandit and Goldierocks are all supporting NCS to highlight the opportunities that NCS provide to 16 and 17 year olds in the UK. NCS is a unique three-week residential programme packed with activities that help students build skills for work and life. With 30 hours of social action, during the school holidays, including action-packed residential time away from home where participants are able to bond with teammates over activities such as hiking, canoeing and climbing, NCS shows ways of developing personal and social skills as well as how to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others through social action projects.
Piers Aggett of Rudimental said, "Our lives are formed by the opportunities that are presented to us. Daring to say yes can make all the difference. By doing this gig with NCS we wanted to show young people that there are choices and opportunities to be had - a simple yes is sometimes all it takes. "
The 1975 said, "We are really looking forward to playing in Manchester again, it's been a little while!"

Other musicians and performers have recognized the opportunities that NCS creates. One Direction's Louis Tomlison recently tweeted "Love this. Great chance to do something big with your Summer in Doncaster! #NCS #DRFC @NCS" and Pixie Lott spoke out to support NCS when it started in 2011. She said: "Young people need to be doing something they enjoy, something positive which encourages them and gives them a different perspective. Teenagers should know that if they put their mind to it they can achieve anything - the world is their oyster."
NCS 2013 is now open to more 16 and 17 year olds than ever before. Over 26,000 young people participated in NCS in 2012. The programme continues to grow with up to 50,000 opportunities to get involved in 2013 and a total of up to 90,000 opportunities by 2014.
The NCS 2013 Spring programme is now in session, but there is still time to sign-up for the 2013 Summer Programme. With entry fees capped at o50 and bursaries available, every young person in England has the opportunity to participate regardless of background, experience or whether their strengths lie in sport, creativity or academics.
16 and 17 year olds across the country can fast-track their future and get involved with NCS by visiting and signing up for this unique opportunity during the holidays.
It All Starts At Yes - make a life changing decision now: Sign up to NCS.
