Iceland's Rokkurro return with a brand new single The Backbone, taken from their new album which is set for release later in 2014. The Backbone premiered on The Line of Best Fit this week and will be officially released on 11th August as a Digital Single and as a Limited Homemade Edition.
The Backbone is the second taster from the forthcoming album to be offered to fans. In October 2013, Rokkurro unveiled the album track Killing Time, a track described by The Guardian as "warm, wonderfully textured number that finds stuttering rhythms judder underneath swelling instrumentals while the vocal's unshakable sense of longing will lingers well after the song has finished."
Both The Backbone and Killing Time showcase Rokkurro's first venture into the world of an English speaking record, while musically, their already melodic palette has been enhanced further by a more electronic feel. Embracing synthesisers which blend with their lush percussion filled soundscapes and Stefansdottir's gentle, sultry vocals.
