Oohlala! Announces Line-up Additions For October 2013 Including Rover And Melissa Laveaux

Acts join Dominique A, Lescop, Christine and The Queens + FAUVE for a celebration of modern French music 21st, 22nd + 24th October at Village Underground, East London

Following on from the initial announcement about OohLaLA! London, the festival has added two more acts to the line-up of their inaugural event in October. Dramatic new wave songwriter ROVER and eclectic French-Canadian Melissa Laveaux will join previously announced acts for this celebration of modern French music, happening at East London's Village Underground on the 21st, 22nd and 24th October 2013. Also on the bill are experimental songwriter Dominique A, no wave disco artist Lescop, polemic post rockers ? FAUVE, electronic popstar Christine and The Queens as well as sets from The Quietus DJs.

Tickets for each day of OohLaLA! are now on sale as below, with more acts and one-off collaborations to be announced. There's many more Gallic musical delights to discover beyond Daft Punk's shiny masks and disco balls, with the full OohLaLA! line-up representing a vibrant array of sounds issuing from the other side of La Manche.

More about the new OohLaLA! artists:

ROVER (Cinq 7)

Some might say that ROVER - aka Timothée Régnier - has the appeal of a Gallic Paul Banks or Spencer Krug, his intense new wave music providing the perfect compliment for his darkly poetic lyrics and distinctive octave-scaling voice.

The French release of his eponymous debut album earlier this year brought much acclaim for the young songwriter, with the record charting at an all time high for a brand new artist. ROVER's powerful and classy live show sold-out big venues across the country, making it's way onto national television as part of La Victoire de la Musique 2013's award ceremony. An impressive result for a record born out of a turbulent time in ROVER's life, when a bout of globetrotting was brought to an abrupt end due to extradition from Lebanon. On returning to France that winter, ROVER holed himself up in a remote Brittany cottage with a rudimentary home-made studio and poured his feelings of social dislocation and anxiety about the future into this record.

Mélissa Laveaux (No Format)

Born to Haitian parents in Montreal, Mélissa Laveaux moved to France six years ago when she signed to No Format (also home to Chilly Gonzales and Julia Saar). The release of her new album 'Dying Is A Wild Night' made her a household French name earlier this year, with Mélissa now looking to conquer the rest of the world when the record comes out on the 30th September.

Laveaux's style is self-assured: a combination of folk, indie, tribal percussion, her signature percussive finger-style blues guitar all topped off with her rich and gritty vocals. 'Dying Is A Wild Night' is an elegant record executed with the depth of a well-seasoned artist and and the production values of Santigold or Goldfrapp.

More about OohLaLA!

Founded in 2009 by Sylvain Taillet (head of A&R for French label Barclay/Universal Music France), OohLaLA! is an international multi-day celebration showcasing the best artists from the French indie, pop, rock and electronic scene. Previous line-ups have featured Sebastien Tellier, Tinariwen, Kavinsky, Nouvelle Vague, Citizens!, Brodinski, Gonzales, General Electriks, François and The Atlas Mountains to name but a few. Originating in Los Angeles, the festival has successfully expanded to take place in San Francisco, New York, Montréal and now London.
