Jd Roots Brings 3 Nights Of 2013'S Best New Bands Including Swim Deep And Citizens!

In May and June, Jack Daniel's® JD Roots continued their commitment to local music scenes with a run of shows that saw established artist Miles Kane and indie legends Maximo Park play intimate gigs in small venues in their hometowns. In addition they hosted four breakthrough acts; The Family Rain, The Ruen Brothers, Charlie Boyer and The Voyeurs and Loom as a continuation of the 2013 hometown tour of JD Roots shows.

To further their support of the places legends are born, JD Roots returns in October with their pick of the UK's 2013 talent. There will be shows in three cities that further highlight the importance of small venues and emerging talent; in order to continue celebrating the people and places across the land that make the UK the thriving music scene that it is.

On 23rd October SWIM DEEP open JD Roots Picks of 2013 with a headline show at Edinburgh's beautiful Picture House. Coming out of Birmingham alongside their friends Peace, Swim Deep have established themselves as one of the UK's most hotly tipped new bands. Their debut album 'Where The Heaven Are We' slammed into the Top Twenty going a long way to fulfilling NME's promise that 'Swim Deep are on the cusp of stepping into the big league' whilst sets at Glastonbury and a thrilling debut at Latitude to a packed Lake Stage suggested that their time is very much now. With a reputation for incendiary shows and The Fly claiming 'they could be the biggest, best band in the country', this is the perfect opener for JD Roots Picks of 2013.

Joining Swim Deep in Edinburgh will be Prides, who are  making waves in Scotland and now  the whole of the UK following their first shows at Reading and Leeds Festival this summer. Completing the line-up are  Glasgow based Purple Emperors who will open the show.

The following day JD Roots comes to London's Garage for CITIZENS! With their debut album 'Here We Are' finding friends across media and production duties taken by Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos, the five piece have seen their name placed in many of the 'Ones To Watch' lists alongside high profile live slots with the likes of The Rapture.  A show at SxSW this spring alongside high profile US and European touring built on that debut across the globe. This show will be their first in the UK for 2013 and as such is a unique opportunity to see a band whose progress from their last UK shows has been remarkable.

Again, our headline support are from the local area.  Night Engine have already been tipped for great things by the likes of The Guardian, The Fly and NME. Unsigned band Korda Marshall take the opening  slot.

The tour ends JD Roots' three night stand in Manchester at the legendary Ritz on Friday 25th October, with TOY taking on headline duties. Described by The Fly as 'one of the year's most enticing new hopes' TOY have seen their debut album acclaimed across the board, with NME going so far as to suggest 'It's weird and wonderful and you'll want to listen again as soon as it's over'. Having spent 2013 wowing crowds at Field Day and Glastonbury with their neo-psychedelic pop, the band are a formidable live force and a fitting end to our pick of the UK's best bands of 2013.

Support for the last show comes from hotly tipped Mancunians Young British Artists with Mysterians! opening the show.

Tickets for all shows are on sale from September 2nd via the Jack Daniels website. Tickets are priced at £10 for London and £8 for Manchester and Edinburgh, inclusive of booking fee. Tickets are limited to 2 per person.
