Highasakite Announces New Single 'Leaving No Traces' Out In The UK 5th May 2014
Norway's Highasakite make pop music, but an adventurous brand of indie pop full of contrasts. Once you hear Highasakite you'll wonder how you ever got by without them, theirs is an endless sound oscillating between density and spaciousness. New single 'Leaving No Traces', out 5th May onPropeller Recordings has been lifted from their Norwegian chart-topping album 'Silent Treatment' which will be released in the UK April 7th.
The Norwegian outifit was formed when Ingrid Helene Håvik met drummerTrond Bersu at the Trondheim Jazz Conservatory and began to write, record and perform together. However, the pair felt that they needed an extra something to give their performances the sound they desired. As a result,Øystein Skar on synthesizers was added, before the more recent arrivals ofMarte Eberson, also on synths, and Kristoffer Lo on guitar, flugabone and percussion. All of this has combined to give the band a richer texture and more potent sound.
'Leaving No Traces' demonstrates this developed sound perfectly. Håvik's soothing vocals emerge from an energetic, battle cry intro accompanied by an intricate soundscape created by surf style guitars, the unexpectedly brilliant addition of flugabone and gentle marching drum rhythms reminiscent of a Western soundtrack. The anthemic chorus bursts out from a band laden with a powerful confidence having struck a perfect balance between haunting, often dark lyrics and melodies and rousing, festival-ready arrangements. 'Leaving No Traces' is built for a sun-soaked festival crowd craving a fist-pumping anthem with heart.
Highasakite have spent the last few months wowing audiences at numerous international festival, including tastemakers at this year's OYA Festival, UK audiences were treated to an equally memorable experience when Highasakite played their first UK show at London's Birthday's which was completely sold out. Having just commenced their US tour at SXSW, where they were hotly tipped as Vogue and Time Magazine's top 'ones to watch, the band are set to embark on a full UK/EU tour in April.
