Emilie Nicolas Announces Debut London Show At The Lexington For 16 July 2014
Emerging from the suburbs of Oslo as an unknown music student back in 2013, 26-year-old Norwegian singer Emilie Nicolas has spent the last year rapidly establishing herself as one of the most exciting voices in pop. Dumdum Boys cover 'Pstereo' sparked whispers of a new mysterious talent that left people clamouring for more while latest track 'Grown Up' - a wonderful, vulnerable and quietly confident song written as a tribute to her father - cemented her as something exceptional.
Following a unanimously praised by:Larm Festival set and a rapturously received UK debut at Brighton's Great Escape Festival ("The most exciting new Scandinavian export. It's impossible to take your eyes off Emilie Nicolas" The Line of Best Fit), Emilie has announced she will be heading to The Lexington on 16 July for her first London headline show. She will also be supporting Chvrchesat their sold-out Somerset House show on the 17 July.
Having amassed a small but devoted following Emilie's name still has something of a whisper to it but it won't remain that way forever, especially since she appeared on the cover of Gaffa Magazine (Scandinavia's No.1 music paper) earlier this year.
It's Emilie's raw honesty draws you in but it's the combination of that honesty with her knack for an addictive, defiantly euphoric pop hook which keeps you, helplessly, going back for more. With every word, Emilie's vocals - from melancholic murmur to dizzyingly intense cry - captivate and pull you further into her world.
This is only the beginning though as Emilie is currently working on her debut album and will be playing the following shows in the UK this summer.
Wed 16 July London The Lexington
Thurs 17 July London Somerset House supporting Chvrches (SOLD OUT)
Fri 18 July Latitude Festival
