Cherry Ghost Announce New Single 'Only A Mother Could'
Cherry Ghost unveil details of a new single taken from their acclaimed album 'Beneath This Burning Shoreline'.
The swirl of strings and organ announce 'Only A Mother Could' and once again the band showcase their ability to marry deceptively catchy melodies to the darkest of subject matters. A story shaped from a woman's perspective, 'Only A Mother Could' explores the blind optimism that exists in abusive relationships. Our protagonist poignantly persists with her assured viewpoint - "Tide will turn, and in time I'll learn to love/What only a mother could".
2010 saw 'Beneath This Burning Shoreline' hailed as one of Q magazine's Albums of the Year as well as recently being publicly lauded by Bruce Springsteen and Robert Plant who are both fans of the band. On "Beneath This Burning Shoreline", Cherry Ghost craft a rich and distinctive sound, still founded on lyrical poeticism yet more refined and assured.
The band take to the road once again on a string of new live dates, starting with an NME Awards Show supporting Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan on February 15th, followed by a smattering of don't miss shows in March, including Manchester Cathedral on 16th March and London's Union Chapel on the 17th March 2011. With the hushed intimacy that these venues invoke, Cherry Ghost's music will have the dramatic setting that perfectly compliments their rich, atmospheric sound.
