Ben Frost has added more North American dates to his autumn tour with performances inBrooklyn, Lexington, Philadelphia, Toronto, St. Paul and Chicago. The tour starts on September 20th in Oslo and includes festival performances at Unsound (Poland) and Mutek (Mexico), in addition to his already on-sale and announced dates in Europe, Japan, Canada and Mexico. Ben's show at The Wick on October 18th in Brooklyn will be part of Pitchfork's Show No Mercy collaboration with Blackened Music for their first ever Tinnitus music series.
For a list of all dates and on-sale links please see below.
These dates follow the release of Ben Frost's acclaimed album, A U R O R A, out now on Mute / Bedroom Community (Iceland).
Already a critics favorite, A U R O R A has been featured heavily in 'Albums of the Year So Far' lists and is described by The Wire as "Frost's most fully realised work to date", by Rolling Stone as having "garnered enough enthusiasm to snowball into the ambient event of the year" and by Resident Advisor as "the darkest and most powerful recording of his career".
The album was performed by Ben Frost with Greg Fox, Shahzad Ismaily and Thor Harris and largely written in Eastern DR Congo. Starved of all the adornments of its predecessor (2009's BY THE THROAT), A U R O R A is wholly absent of guitar, of piano, of string instruments and natural wooden intimacy. Instead, it offers a de?ant new world of ?ercely synthetic shapes and galactic interference, pummelling skins and pure metals.
