The David and Bathsheba referencing Dance provides one of the Pulse album's most alluring images, and the song itself is released as a single on 9th April, backed with two striking new mixes by Lapalux and Second Date.

Lapalux - aka 22 year old Stuart Howard - debuted on Picture Music's "Many Faces Out of Focus", selling out on cassette in under two hours. Now, with a release on Flying Lotus's Brainfeeder label in the works, and a huge positive response to his Gwen Stefani Luxurious bootleg, 2012 is sure to be Lapalux's break through year. If the raised cameraphones at his Plastic People show with Kutmah, Flying Lotus and Martyn are anything to go by, the live set is pretty impressive too.

Second Date is Henry Birkbeck, a London-based producer who generally operates at the slower end of the dance register. His production places emphasis on intricate beats, warm bass and the arpeggiating piano which has become his trademark - somewhere between the balearic disco of Delorean and the piano chopping of James Blake.

Astrid's new album Pulse, on which she collaborates with Eno man Leo Abrahams has been rightly recognised as a sonic sea-change for Astrid - the seeds for which were sown upon witnessing guitarist/ambient man Leo Abrahams perform as part of Brian Eno's Pure Scenius project at last year's Brighton Festival.

Poignant, ethereal and magical, if Joni Mitchell had looked into the future when she was about to record Blue and absorbed the influence of Talk Talk, it might well have come out sounding like pared-back currents of Pulse - a haunting intensity of uplifting light and space.
