Indie folk trio from Italy Pipers showcase their sound to the UK with the video for their upcoming single 'Ask Me For A Cigarette' which is set to be released on October 18th 2012. It is taken from their album 'Juliet Grove' which will come out in the early months of next year.
The video is directed by Giacomo Triglia and is an abstract series of quaint film clips inside picture frames. It emphasises the pleasantness of this slow ballad which exists already in the strongly Italian accented vocals of Stefano de Stefano which whisper gently over the twinkly guitar playing, steady drum beats and uplifting piano.
Vocalist and guitarist Stefano, bassist Stefano 'Stoo' Bruno and drummer Marco Magnacca who make up the trio, formed in 2007 and have since made many adjustments to their sound; previously being a mostly electro-indie group and now leaning more towards folk-pop which, with all the excitement surrounding folk pop group Mumford & Sons' new album here in the UK, can only be a good thing. They were even asked by The Charlatans' frontman turned solo artist Tim Burgess to support him during his Italy show, not to mention being selected to appear at various UK music festivals including Liverpool Sound City, Matthew Street Festival also in Liverpool and Creamfields in Chesire.
