Pio Leyva, a singer with the Buena Vista Social Club, has died at the age of 88. The Cuban performer suffered a heart attack on Wednesday (22MAR06), his family confirmed. Leyva performed on more than 25 albums and was most famous for his work with late guitarist Compay Segundo, which spanned five decades. He is the fourth member of the Buena Vista Social Club to die in three years, after Segundo and Ruben Gonzalez died in 2003 and Ibrahim Ferrer passed away in 2005. The club found international fame after being promoted by guitarist Ry Cooder and appearing in a film by Wim Wenders film.
