Veteran rockers Pink Floyd have seen off competition from boyband One Direction to score the most pre-ordered album of all time on Amazon.co.uk.

The Endless River is the band's first new release since 1994's The Division Bell and has already broken records, knocking One Direction's 2013 hit Midnight Memories from the number one spot on the U.K. website's pre-order list.

Other albums featured in the top all-time Amazon pre-orders chart include Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed A Dream, and Ghost Stories and X&Y by Coldplay.

Ahead of The Endless River's release on 10 November (14), Pink Floyd frontman David Gilmour encouraged fans to download the entire album rather then individual singles.
