Irish actor Pierce Brosnan has slammed US President George W Bush for the way he has handled the Hurricane Katrina disaster in America's Deep South.

The JAMES BOND star is also critical of Bush's stance on environmental issues - particularly his refusal to sign the Kyoto Protocol which aims to reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

The 52-year-old says, "This man called President Bush has a lot to answer for. I don't know if this man is really taking care of America.

"This government has been shameful."
