Pop superstar MICHAEL JACKSON was conspicuously absent from the Grammy Awards. The singer was expected to make an appearance at the ceremony, to mark the 25th anniversary of his hit album Thriller. But there was no sign of the star - amid rumours he stayed away when organisers refused to present him with an award.
